Hi there, sorry to hear of your troubles with iExit, but thanks for your feedback. Can you tell us a little bit more? What highway are you traveling on that it didn’t detect? And where were you on that highway?

And this may be dumb, but you are positive that iExit has access to your location? iOS8 comes with some updated rules on how apps can access your location, so just want to make sure. Thanks!

  2. Interstates and rest stops

Are rest stops "off the Interstate?" Are you trying to get us all killed? Finding diesel is hard enough, but I have to do it while driving a massive vehicle, looking through exits, for gas stations, for diesel?

If there really a reason I have to be moving and on the interstate at the same time, this app NEEDS voice intelligence. Seriously!!

    Hi Eric,

I’m sorry you’re having issues using iExit, but hopefully we can help. You do not need to actually be driving on the highway to use iExit effectively. You can search exits ahead either a nearby highway or any highway in the USA while stopped. You do this by clicking the top-right “3-line” button, which allows you to easily select nearby highways or lookup highways by state.

If you select, say, I-20 in Texas, the default view allows you to view all exits on I-20 in Texas; if you want to filter these exits by a particular business or amenity, you can search for it by selecitng “Search” in the top-right. If you want to move to an adjacent state on I-20, such as Louisiana, you can easily move to the next state.

So, yes, iExit is smart enough to detect when you’re actually driving on a highway and…

  3. Great update!

Just wanted to thank you for this update. It is infinitely more accurate than the previous release. Came out just as I was beginning a lengthy drive trip in southwest U.S. Experienced some app freezing with ios7.x, but just upgraded to ios8 today, so hoping this issue is resolved.

    Again, thanks.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear you’re seeing an improvement in accuracy in iExit. We work quite hard to continually improve the quality of the app. Please let us know if you continue to see freezing or any other issues with iExit using iOS8. Thanks!

  4. Open/Closed rest stops

Would be helpful if it's possible to denote a rest stop as open or closed.

  5. Think Big Rigs

Seems like everything you had for a trucker is gone . What happened ? Don't you like us anymore? I had my favorites I could use and it would filter out everything that I didn't want to see. I can't search and save my stuff anymore. Yeah there is a search, but not like before. Put it back !!!! Think Big Rigs!!!!!

Hi there, we love our community of truckers that use iExit, and so we’re upset to hear that the latest version is worse than it was before. Someone will email you shortly to get more information, but please feel free to comment here if you’d like.

  6. Muddy River Bar and Grill

Should be added at exit 90 on I-15. We just had a great breakfast here!

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say it’s running poorly? Also can you give use some additional details, like are you using an iPad or iPhone, and have you updated your device to iOS7?

  8. Good grief!

Looking over issues being sent, and wonder if you'll fix in near future?
    Tool Bar?
    Alarm or Alert Tones?

  9. Fix update

Since you updated, I have NO Tool Bar, and having an alarm set for places ahead when they are near exits would be nice. This way people could pre-set a specific coffee shop an be alerted when that place is near.
Ie Gas, Shop, Wendy's, etc. Oh, I did reset the app W/O any results.

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say you have no toolbar? Are you saying the top of the app is cut off and you can’t access the Search button?

As for background alerts, we have currently removed background alerts as of iExit 6.0. They were not implemented well and so until we can build background alerts in a way that is useful and does not drain your battery, we have taken them out of the app. We plan to add them back in with a future release, but we can’t say when that will be.

In iExit 6.0 and later, when iExit goes to the background, it ALWAYS turns off the GPS chip. Meaning it does not drain your battery when iExit is in the background.

If your device is an iPhone or a celluar-enabled iPad, when iExit is in the background and your device switches between cell towers (which happens every 1-2 miles), iExit will grab the location of the new cell tower so that the app can quickly return you updated results when you return to the app. This uses no more battery than your device would use anyway, with or without iExit.

The confusion, though, comes from the Location arrow continuing to show in the Status Bar. We realize people don’t like that, so we will soon be adding in functionality to allow the user to turn this off.

In the meantime, please realize that iExit never uses your GPS chip when…

We’ve long thought about how iExit could integrate with traffic data, letting you know quick feedback about traffic near upcoming exits. We are still reviewing the best data source (possibly Waze) and best implementation, so it will be a while before a feature like this gets added, but I assure you we are (and have been) looking into it. Thanks for the suggestion!

We absolutely want to expand overseas, but UK is probably at least a year away. Our next expansion will be Canada, but we will keep you posted once UK (and other European countries) expansion gets closer.

  14. Search box in the way of seeing full page map

Ability to hide search section on left - in portrait mode it takes up almost half the page of map. After I search , I would like to only see map.

  15. There is an error in the program

When I was driving on I-70 program showed wrong exits and distance to them (see screenshot: http://shadow.eas.gatech.edu/~vvt/iExitError.png ) - exits 197 and 202 do not exist, and distance to them was wrong - distance to 193 - 37 miles, distance to 197 - 218 miles).

That is an awesome idea. Our data isn’t to the level where we could do this well just yet, but it will be soon. Not sure why we didn’t think of this filter before, but you’re right that lots of people will find it useful. Thanks for the suggestion!

  17. update the software so that it recognizes when i am on the interstate

it needs to accurately reflect when i am on the interstate and reflect information about upcoming exits. I drove 5 hours on the interstate yesterday and the app was useless

Hi all, we are looking into this issue. In theory, if iExit has access to your phone’s location, it should work. You also have to be near a highway that we support.

@Vincent, can you tell us where you were driving?
@Dave, what device do you have? Is it an iPad as well or an iPhone?

We’re sorry for your troubles. Thanks for your feedback.

  19. Great app! Any way to add attractions like National Wildlife Refuges that are close to exits?

It would be great if you could see what kind of National Parks or National Wildlife Refuges were coming up as well. Could you add that? Maybe just a small icon for a Park or Refuge. I work for the National Wildlife Refuge system and could work with you to get you data if it's needed. Thanks
