Yep, we messed this up with the latest update. It will be updated by Monday morning, and won't require an app update. Sorry for the trouble

The iExit 6.0 update was a huge data update and largely centered around points of interest. Our next big update, likely 6.1 will be the result of over a year of work on improving our exit data. This update will make iExit cover every single 1-digit, 2-digit, and 3-digit Interstate in the US, but also many exit-based freeways and US routes. Expect this update by June 2014.

    AdminMetrocket (President, iExit) commented  ·

Please keep in mind that iExit only includes businesses that are relatively close to highway exits. The 7-eleven near your house appears to be 5+ miles from a highway exit, so that's why it's not included in the app.

    AdminMetrocket (President, iExit) commented  ·

Thanks everyone for your feedback. To the Anonymous poster regarding PA interstates, we are *currently* working on updating this data for both the new service plaza as well as adding I-376, though it won't be live until iExit 5.0 is released in November. As a whole, we have several resources working on adding/verifying our interstate exit/rest area data across the country. It is an incredibly large undertaking, as is adding and verifying business data, so thank you for you patience.

Please know that your feedback is not going unseen.

In iExit 6.0 and later, when iExit goes to the background, it ALWAYS turns off the GPS chip. Meaning it does not drain your battery when iExit is in the background.

If your device is an iPhone or a celluar-enabled iPad, when iExit is in the background and your device switches between cell towers (which happens every 1-2 miles), iExit will grab the location of the new cell tower so that the app can quickly return you updated results when you return to the app. This uses no more battery than your device would use anyway, with or without iExit.

The confusion, though, comes from the Location arrow continuing to show in the Status Bar. We realize people don’t like that, so we will soon be adding in functionality to allow the user to turn this off.

In the meantime, please realize that iExit never uses your GPS chip when…

    AdminMetrocket (President, iExit) commented  ·

Good info, thanks for that feedback. It's worth mentioning that the Location arrow can be extremely finicky with staying on even when we are not retrieving any new locations, but we will investigate and figure out if there is something we can be doing differently. We will post here later with our findings. Thanks!

Good to hear. Not sure what happened the first time, but we will look into it. Thanks for your comment.

We have decided to delay our Windows Phone development for the indefinite future. We still really like the Windows Phone platform, but until it gains more traction, we are continuing to put our efforts into iOS, Android, and web.

In iExit 6.0, which is now available in the App Store, accessing your Favorites (as well as many other preset searches) is easier than ever. Go check it out!

In iExit 6.0, which is now available in the App Store, users have much more ability to give us feedback on businesses, as well as tell us what businesses are missing from exits.

iExit 6.0, which is now in the App Store, has a much improved database of truck friendly businesses, but we are working towards being the ultimate source for truckers in upcoming versions.

Thanks for this comment. We are seeing slowness on the map as well, particularly when no search is enabled and all businesses are trying to be displayed. The map is much faster when you are searching for something (because the number of POIs being displayed is lower), but we are looking into this and will get it resolved in the next update.

With iExit 6.0, you can no longer turn on/off particular categories. The way this is accomplished now is by searching for what you are looking for. If you have a particular search enabled, you won't see all the other businesses that you don't care about.

With iExit 6.0, which was just released, we've added over 5000 new truck-friendly businesses. And with every new release, this data will only continue to improve. We've also added Google Streetview so that you can view a business's location ahead of time.

We are actively working on a system where we can gather precisely this type of information. iExit isn’t there yet, but know that it’s in the works.

    AdminMetrocket (President, iExit) commented  ·

With iExit 6.0 for iOS, we have distinguished many more gas stations that are RV/Truck friendly. Every update from now on will continue to improve this type of data.

We are currently working on updating the interstate exits/rest areas for I-76, as part of a larger data update. This will be live in iExit at no later then version 5.0, expected for late November.

    AdminMetrocket (President, iExit) commented  ·

Hi there, I believe you are the same person who just left a bad review in the App Store, citing bad data with I-76. Can you please give us more information about what data you're seeing that is incorrect? Such as are the exit locations wrong, the numbers wrong, the businesses wrong, etc?

We are committed to improving our exit data (and business data), and it's an constantly ongoing process. You are obviously welcome to continue to leave us a bad review in the App Store, but your feedback is much more useful here where the conversation can be two-directional.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Hi Helmut, I’m sorry for this issue but there’s a simple fix. You must be using iExit on the iPad in Landscape Mode. Please rotate the iPad to Portrait Mode and the button to advance through the tutorial will appear.

We apologize for this bug. It has been fixed in version 4.7 which is currently under review by Apple, meaning it should be available in a few days.

That is an awesome idea. Our data isn’t to the level where we could do this well just yet, but it will be soon. Not sure why we didn’t think of this filter before, but you’re right that lots of people will find it useful. Thanks for the suggestion!

    AdminMetrocket (President, iExit) commented  ·

In version 5.0, coming towards the end of 2012, iExit will have user-generated content by partnering with a major 3rd party business review service. We can't say exactly which one it will be just yet, but all that matters is that user content will be in iExit in the near future.

The iExit Trucks application sold by Allstays is no longer supported. In the coming months, when all the iExit updates are complete, Metrocket plans to build a new and improved iExit Trucks app. We will update here when that app is available for download. Thanks for your feedback.
